SageSURPASS is a functionally-rich Integrated Safe System of Work solution, that is highly adaptable to suit the permit to work, isolation and risk assessment needs of different industries.
SageSURPASS provides end-to-end management of the Permit to Work process including JSA/JSEA, permits and certificates, isolations and approvals. It also generates all associated printed materials. The powerful configuration engine allows workflows to be applied and enforced for different permit or certificate requirements, while the capturing of lessons learnt supports safety and efficiency gains through continuous learning.
SageSURPASS has been developed to support leading PTW practices to enable sites to achieve safety, efficiency and compliance improvements.
A five-step wizard guides personnel through the Work Request process to ensure that all essential data is captured, including job description, plant to be worked on, location, date required, hazard identification and risk assessment, and permit/certificates types. The wizard also allows requestors to attach supporting documents or URLs.
A wide range of permit types are available and new types can be defined as required to meet individual client needs. The SageSURPASS permit issue and closeout is a highly secure process using iButtons for personal security and ease of access. Suspension and transfer of permits is also supported and high levels of accountability are achieved using iButtons.
SageSURPASS certificates help to manage activities such as Confined Space Entry, Gast Test, Excavation/Penetration, Isolations, Diving, and Safety Systems. Each certificate type has a unique workflow and user-defined approvals to ensure robust authorisation and approval of each step in the process. Additional custom certificate types and workflows can be defined as required.
SageSURPASS generates all required printed material including permits, certificates, danger tags, checklists, reports and Hazard Identification Risk Assessments. All materials are developed in Crystal Reports to match the current or desired look and feel of each client’s printed output.
SageSURPASS applies rigour to the isolation process through automatic and continuous cross referencing as well as isolation and restoration confirmation. Isolation templates enable a library of pre-approved isolation lists to be develped and re-used to reduce the planning time for isolation schemes. Danger tags are printed on heavy duty Valeron tag material using a high speed Datamax tag printer. The SageSURPASS mobile module further strengthens the isolation process by enabling field-based verification and positive plant identification. Read more about the mobile module here...
SageSURPASS has an inbuilt suite of risk management tools to support hazard identification and traditonal task/hazard/mitigation analysis such as JSA or JHA. The ability to identify hazards and controls using the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment tool delivers a higher level of compliance than traditional manual processes. The Hazard Factor Assessment function helps determine the level of isolation required for work based on plant type, substance, pressure and other factors.
The plant index is a complete listing of all plant and isolation points. It is used in SageSURPASS to select items of plant to be worked on as well as isolation points. Continuous automatic cross referencing prevents permits breaches and isolation conflicts.
Selecting items of plant to be worked on and isolation points from the plant index eliminates variations in plant naming which can result in potential conflicts being missed in manual systems. It also eliminates the time needed to handwrite plant/isolation point names with the associated risk of illegible writing.
The plant index can be synchronised with ERP systems such as SAP and Maximo to maintain the integrity of this data.
SageSURPASS increases efficiency by allowing a range of data to be saved and re-used with appropriate checks. Data which can be re-used includes isolation templates, standard job descriptions, published searches, Level 2 Risk Assessments and the ability to copy Work Requests.
Kiosk mode in SageSURPASS provides a high level of visibility of all planned and current works. No log in is required to search or view permits, certificates and work requests.
SageSURPASS’s diagrammatic display provides a graphical view of required relationships between permits and certificates. SageSURPASS applies workflows that govern permit/certificate relationships. The diagrammatic display provides an overview of these relationships at any stage in the lifecycle of a permit or certificate. The diagrammatic display can be opened in the same or a new window.
The easy-to-use interface supports fast navigation to permits and certificates, and provides a high level of visibility to users even when not logged in. Custom terminology can be applied while multi-window support and graphical displays of plant and permit/certificate relationships help planners and management to avoid work conflicts. Comprehensive search tools allow search templates to be save and reused. SageSURPASS also allows routine activities to be scheduled and managed. Permits and certificate layouts are customised for all clients.
SageSURPASS automatically generates an audit trail with time stamps that captures details of all actions, state transitions and operator. The audit trail is essential for incident investigations and makes the permit audit process easier to manage with all records stored in a single location. Regularly auditing permits can identify irregularities or issues for early action.
Personnel are prompted to record lessons learnt in SageSURPASS when closing permits. Includes functionality for managing lessons learnt for continuous safety improvement. Any HIRA or workflow changes required as a result of lessons learnt can be easily rolled out to the workforce via SageSURPASS.
SageSURPASS can integrate with Enterprise Resource Planning and Asset Management systems to provide a single source of plant and personnel data and to deliver workflow connectivity with Work Orders.
